Dinner Plug — Privacy Policy
Effective date: October 25, 2026
Dinner Plug ("Dinner Plug," "we," "us") operates the Dinner Plug mobile application and the website at dinnerplug.com (together, the "Service"). The Service connects people who cook food at home ("Cooks") with people who want to buy it ("Customers"). Dinner Plug is a connector only: we do not sell, prepare, or deliver food, and payments for food happen directly between Cooks and Customers.
Information we collect
- Account information. When you create an account we collect your name, email address, and password (stored in hashed form by our authentication provider).
- Profile and listing content. Cooks provide a display name, neighborhood, dish listings, photos, prices, and availability. Customers may save favorites and leave ratings.
- Messages. Messages you send to other users through the Service are stored so the conversation works and so we can enforce our rules.
- Location information. With your permission, we use your device's approximate location to show nearby dishes and to place Cook listings on the map. Cooks choose the general area shown for their listings. You can turn location off in your device settings at any time.
- Waitlist information. If you join the waitlist on dinnerplug.com, we collect the name, contact detail, role, and neighborhood you submit.
- Usage and device data. We receive basic technical data such as device type, app version, and crash or performance diagnostics, used to keep the Service running and fix problems.
How we use information
- To operate the Service: accounts, listings, map, messaging, favorites, and ratings.
- To communicate with you about your account, your listings, and launch or service updates.
- To keep the community safe, including reviewing reports and enforcing our terms.
- To improve the Service and understand how it is used.
How information is shared
- With other users. Your public profile, listings, ratings, and the messages you send are visible to the users they are intended for. A Cook's general neighborhood area is shown on the map; we do not publish a Cook's exact home address.
- Service providers. We use trusted providers to run the Service, including Supabase (database, authentication, and storage) and Stripe (Cook subscription and posting-fee payments, handled on Stripe's own checkout pages — we never see or store your full card number). These providers process data only to provide their services to us.
- Legal reasons. We may disclose information if required by law, court order, or to protect the rights and safety of our users.
- We do not sell your personal information.
Payments
Payments for food are made directly between Customers and Cooks, outside the Service. Dinner Plug charges Cooks for posting plans through Stripe's hosted checkout. We do not collect or store full payment card details.
Data retention and your choices
- You may edit your profile and listings at any time in the app.
- You may request deletion of your account and associated personal data by emailing us at the address below. Some records may be retained where required by law or for legitimate security and fraud-prevention purposes.
- You may opt out of non-essential emails at any time.
Children
The Service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Users must be 18 or older to sell food as a Cook.
Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures, including encrypted connections and access controls, to protect your information. No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the effective date above and, where appropriate, notify users in the app or by email.
